This website (www.lapdih.com.br) is operated by Laboratório de Pesquisa em Direito Internacional Humanitário e Direitos das Crianças - LAPDIH - LTDA, registered under CNPJ No. 68.702.788/0001-11 ("LAPDIH", "Institute", "we"), dedicated to scientific research in International Humanitarian Law and International Children's Rights.

By accessing or using this website, you ("user") fully agree to the terms and conditions set out in this document. If you do not agree with any provision herein, we recommend that you do not use the website.

2. About LAPDIH

LAPDIH is an academic institute working across two thematic axes:

  • International Humanitarian Law — armed conflicts, protection of the civilian population, Geneva Conventions and war crimes;
  • International Children's Rights — Hague Convention, international adoption and child abduction, international protection of children and transnational families.

The Institute maintains editorial production (scientific newsletter and books), promotes institutional cooperation with partner organizations, and conducts a process for integrating researchers, students and professionals into its scientific and editorial body.

Institutional address: Rio de Janeiro

3. Use of the Website

The content of this website is for institutional, informational and academic purposes. You agree to use it only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms, undertaking not to:

  • use the website for illegal, fraudulent or unauthorized purposes;
  • attempt to access restricted areas, other users' data or the website infrastructure without authorization;
  • reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit the website content without prior written authorization from LAPDIH;
  • transmit viruses, malware or any malicious code;
  • use automated mechanisms (bots, scraping, etc.) to extract content from the website without authorization.

4. Contact Form and Expression of Interest ("Get Involved")

The website provides contact channels and an expression-of-interest form for integration into the Institute's research network ("Get Involved" program), intended for researchers, graduate students, faculty and professionals interested in International Law.

When using these channels, the user undertakes to:

  • provide true and accurate information;
  • use the channel exclusively for communications related to the Institute;
  • not send unlawful, offensive, spam or unsolicited content.

Integration into LAPDIH is subject to profile assessment by the Institute's scientific body and does not, by itself, create any employment, corporate or institutional obligation. There is no cost to join the LAPDIH research network, except for any specific conditions that may be communicated in future processes.

5. Publications, Newsletter and Intellectual Property

All content made available on the website — texts, articles, essays, scientific newsletter editions, books, images, brand, logo and other visual elements — is owned by LAPDIH or its authors/collaborators, and is protected by copyright and intellectual property legislation (Brazilian Law No. 9.610/1998), unless expressly stated otherwise.

  • The scientific newsletter and other publications follow their own editorial workflow (submission, screening, peer review, revision, copy-editing and publication), structured with editorial standards aimed at future ISSN registration with CBISSN/IBICT.
  • Authors and collaborators who submit content to the Institute agree to the editorial standards in force at the time of submission, as detailed in the masthead and applicable editorial guidelines.
  • Reproduction, in whole or in part, of published content without proper source citation and, where applicable, without prior authorization from LAPDIH or the author is prohibited.

6. Institutional Cooperation and Third-Party Links

The website may display logos and references to partner institutions, as well as links to third-party websites (social networks, institutional partners). LAPDIH is not responsible for the content, privacy policies or practices of those third-party websites, which are accessed at the user's own risk.

7. Cookies and Data Protection

The website uses cookies essential to its operation and non-essential cookies (such as the embedded Google Maps), which the user may accept or decline. Personal data processing by LAPDIH complies with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13.709/2018 — LGPD) and is detailed in our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms of Use.
